How far is it really?
Around 4–5 hours each way by road, so a Cairo day trip from Hurghada is a genuinely long day — typically 16+ hours door to door once you include time at the sites themselves. It's demanding, and not the most relaxed way to see Cairo, but it is possible in a single (very long) day.

Should you do it?
If seeing the Pyramids is a must and you don't have room in your itinerary for a separate Cairo stay, it's worth it despite the long day. If you have any flexibility at all, splitting your trip between the two cities makes for a much less exhausting experience.
